Introduction & Contact
The idea of starting a website for the Hofman-Bang family came in 1999. My uncle Erik Hofman-Bang was a keen researcher in the family and he had co-written the booklet "Slaegten Hofman-Bang" with Prof. Niels Hofman-Bang of Copenhagen in 1986. This booklet became the centerpiece of information on family members which could easily be put onto the world-wide-web. The first version of the site was published shortly after Erik Hofman-Bang passed away in March 2000. In many ways, this site is a tribute to the hard work of Erik and Niels Hofman-Bang (who passed away in 2007). They laid an information foundation on which I have continued to build and expand upon. This website has undergone many different designs over the past years, but the fundamental system of catalogizing family members has remained the same. The numbering system for Hofman-Bang family members is identical to the one used in the booklet "Slaegten Hofman-Bang".
Over the years, I have received many interesting documents and books connected to the family. As much as possible, this information has been used on this website. Many people have helped me, including the late Niels Hofman-Bang, Copenhagen, Jon & Lynn Hoffmann, Port Jervis, New York and Loretta Wilkening. Hella Hoffmann of Sylt, Germany, has added important data on the German branch of the Hoffmann family.
